The "Florida Room" is the area of the mansion that gives the most genuine feel of our sunshine state. The room is enveloped by windows allowing our famous Florida sunshine to filter in. It is one of the more casual rooms in the house. At one time, this space was an exterior porch. Former Governor Graham and Mrs. Graham were responsible for the enclosure of this room, which occurred in 1985 and required special permission. It definitely seems to have been a wise decision for it a favored spot among guests.
The Miniature Portrait Collection of the First Ladies of Florida is a treasured part of Governor's Mansion history. The collection is a group of small paintings depicting the wives of Florida governors. These women are known as the "First Ladies" of Florida. As each new governor takes office, the collection of portraits grows.
