Mansion Curator
Carol Graham Beck joined the mansion staff in January 2002, and has been preserving and maintaining the integrity of the "People's House" and its history ever since. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in Art History from Rollins College (Winter Park, FL) and Emory University (Atlanta, GA), respectively, Carol has devoted her attention to serving as a coordinator of a number of educational initiatives during her tenure.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her job is working with such a diverse group of professionals, volunteers, and interested visitors. The devoted Governor's Mansion Docents work closely with the curator to make it possible for thousands of visitors to learn about and tour the Governor's Mansion each season.
Carol is especially proud of two milestones accomplished in 2006, our 50th anniversary year: listing the Florida Governor's Mansion on the National Register of Historic Places July 20 and publishing First Families in Residence: Life at the Florida Governor's Mansion in November. The book, written by distinguished architectural historian, Ellen J. Uguccioni of Coral Gables, Florida, was published by the Governor's Mansion Foundation.
Both will ensure that the Governor's Mansion remains a cherished residence, the history of which is now more readily accessible for future generations to come.
