Mansion Manager

When Jerome Cummings was studying at Florida A&M University in 1974, he decided to apply for one of the two available butler positions while former Governor Reubin Askew and his wife were residing at the mansion. Jerome has set records, and continues to do so, for staff longevity and congeniality. He has served as one of the most trusted staff members to our first families, and has vivid memories of a mansion filled with many different children, pets and activities over the years. "I have so many memories, but meeting the three presidents tops the list," Jerome has admitted. In addition to meeting President George H.W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, and President Jimmy Carter, Jerome will always remember President Carter's overnight stay when he discovered that the president had made his own bed. Jerome recalls that was "unusual that the president would do that."

The mansion manager is responsible for coordinating all special events, dinners and receptions at the mansion, as well as supervising the housekeeping and serving staffs. But above all the rest, the mansion manager is responsible for ensuring that the personal needs of the governor, first lady and first family are given the utmost attention and care.
